(WIP just means that we will be adding more regions and cities as we go)

Aven covers a very large area and little is known of it by the general populace.

However, in the recent decades of expansion, many places and their cultures are becoming a part of general knowledge, such as these:

Centris

This large island is the major center for all governmental operations. It is the island that holds the meeting hall for every political leader currently in the Avenian Alliance, the writ that decided the agreement that all known major islands should work together to provide for and peacefully support each other. Though this may seem like a Utopia to some, disagreements between political leaders often become heated, and there are underhanded Cumiculi with fierce ambition sitting in those seats.

The whole island has been colonized top to bottom by the most diverse, wealthy population on Aven, and is home to some of its oldest and most beautiful architecture. The land is rich with vibrant plant life and clear water; even the most dense parts of the city are brimming with green as dozens of full teams are dedicated to its environmental preservation.

Education is very advanced and centered around math and social sciences as well as architecture, environmental studies, and medicine, with introductions into other subjects that students could better explore at other islands. A child’s popularity is often defined by the success of their parents as well as their athletic and academic success, as there is much social pressure to compete with their peers. Moving into higher, more specialized education, most if not all colleges are highly centered around government, engineering, architecture, law, and medicine, offering individualized apprenticeships in the later years.

The social scape has many unwritten rules, as the people tend to be private and flock in groups. The hustle and bustle of the city does not like to be interrupted, and though there is much to experience, visitors are often thought ill of because they don’t follow these unwritten rules that seem obvious to those born and raised in Centris.

Correrum

This city encompasses a collection of several islands clustered together and connected by elaborate bridges. Many consider it to be the art capitol of Aven, as it’s the city in which one of the biggest and most prestigious art schools in the world resides. Another densely populated area, a large majority of the residents of this city are actually bat-types, so most activity occurs underground and leaves the topside a quiet, mountainous landscape.

Education is heavily centered around art and natural science. Though it is most largely known for the college, there is a public school system that encompasses all grades. A child’s popularity entirely is hinged on how well they work with others and you would be hard-pressed to find any openly mean-spirited children with many friends. Even though it’s considered to be very prestigious, the college there is free to attend and entirely run and paid for by volunteers and donors. This leaves the college as an open resource for hobbyists and professionals alike; something they proudly advertise.

This city is very community-driven and most social rules have to do with considering the greater good and reading the mood. Following the directions on signs and being polite is very important, and a lot of value is placed on family and community. It's not uncommon to see graffiti, bright colors, and unique fashion and the citizens tend to walk in groups as the place tends to be clique-y. However, all music and art find room to thrive here, from the smallest street performers to the loftiest idealists.

Vitae

This is home to the largest and most well-resourced magic school system in Aven, producing all of the world’s most advanced and talented mages—historically and today. Due to its massive surface area, there are many climates and landscapes spanning the island ranging from snowy mountains to boggy streams to rolling plains. It is not a very deep island, so the majority of its residents live above ground.

As you may have guessed, the main focus of education is magic. Though there are other subjects taught, every grade is focused on training magic ability. This influence is so pervasive that many say this island feels entirely different from others, pulsing and breathing with the magic in each resident. Many Cumiculi who travel there to train in magic come back wholly changed in unexpected ways after being totally isolated from the rest of the world and immersed in the drastically unique atmosphere. Popularity is hinged on talent and ability to navigate the complex social scape this land has to offer, often leaving newbies grasping for straws.

Every citizen of this island practices magic in one way or another, and they tend to be secretive and suspicious of people who do not, as those who don't understand magic will use it for selfish gains. As such, even when students come from other islands, they usually end up staying on Vitae for the rest of their lives. The culture there is vibrant, deep, and ancient, and as such it is closed to outsiders and very difficult to earn your way in. However, once you do, it is a very rewarding system of favors, alliance, and trade.

The school on this island has produced legendary magic users like Malachai the researcher and Vulture, the chief of Calor.

Iniquis

To the average person, this island looks like a quiet, rainy city, full of mostly bat and bug types who keep to themselves. However, a trained professional knows that it’s an underground hub for high-scale crime activity. Law enforcement tries its best, but they can’t take anyone in without good proof and most forces don’t last long without coming under the thumb of the islands Head Family: the Bellums. The heiress to the Bellum fortune and power, Mavis Bellum, is currently a very popular political leader.

Veterum

A tiny island held together by a massive tree. This island was isolated from other Cumiculus society for centuries because of distance, and as a result has developed a very unique culture and strong community bond. Many citizens don’t know the common language and, even if they do, usually have heavy brougeish accents that make it very difficult to understand them. You can tell a Cumiculus is from Veterum almost immediately, even if they do train out their accent, because they will speak very slowly and formally. Not to mention, they’d probably be half naked. Clothes aren’t very popular there, as the landscape is full of dense coniferous forests, bogs, lakes, and hilly grasslands due to all of the rain.

Composed entirely of bug types save for one quite old bat, the community is so closely knit that banishment is considered the worst possible punishment for a crime. The new chief of law enforcement, Lumas Arbitrium, was born in Veterum and often finds himself called back.

Calor

An island entirely covered in snow, ice, and evergreens. There is a somewhat large tribe of thick and fluffy Cumiculi born and raised for the tundra. Comprised mostly of bird types, they call themselves the Reliquiae and live peacefully and warm in their community build on strength, survival, and solidarity. They are a very naturalistic people who don't culturally care much for fancy new technology or discoveries, preferring to keep to themselves and their kind. Their current chief, Vulture, was born there but was sent off to Vitae to study magic after it was discovered that he had a talent for it.

Reliquiae are very direct and honor honesty as well as humility and fairness. Though the environment is unyielding and their city comparatively primitive, most Reliquiae consider themselves to be very happy on Calor.

Ancient Flutes

A long-standing reminder to the Cumiculi of the dangers of environmental neglect, the Ancient Flutes were once a thriving city that crumbled as the island dissolved beneath them. The rock stands now as if it were a large pumice, the wind playing a haunting song through the caves.

Lower Islands

There is a certain point as you head closer to the core that you’ll find Cumiculus colonists never visited. These are called the Lower Islands: what most assume to be undiscovered territory that most Cumiculi won’t have the guts to explore. However, with population numbers on the rise and limited space, they may find they have no other choice…

???? (To Be Discovered)

In the region of the lower islands there exists a medium-sized colony of Cumiculi who have adopted a peculiar way of life that is kept well-hidden from the rest of the world.

Core

A very dense, hot core similar to Earth's badlands, with sparse vegetation built to save water and survive in a somewhat hostile environment. It is roughly 60% the size of Earth and serves as the gravitational force keeping the islands from floating away. Any Cumiculus who is unlucky enough to find themself here has never made it out alive, as it is dominated by vicious predators who will rip them apart on sight. Or at least, that’s what the legends say. Because of this, there has been a legal ban on going lower than a certain altitude, for the safety of all Cumiculi.
